Towards the end of the Eighties, beginning of the Nineties, a group of Catalans started showing symptoms of an interest in West Ham Utd. In 1994 they decided to form the BHA.After a bit of organization, a few of the lads decided on making a trip to Upton Park for a 93-94 league match against Norwich. At this game the Associations banner was unveiled, with the legend "Barcelona Hammer" written in blue on a claret background, not just for West Ham, but for the famous colours of FC Barcelona, Blau-Grana! The banner also carried the badges of the two clubs, West Ham & Barça. Without a doubt, we were a lucky charm, as West Ham went on to win the game. Along with the birth of the BHA, a Post Office Box was opened allowing various English & Catalan Irons to stay in touch. Since this first game
lots of us have gone on to visit E13 every year since, although not always in 
a very organized way! The BHA have often been called on to help out with 
tickets & contacts in the East End, even by non-members. During this time 
the BHA produced an audio tape of classic West Ham hymns and songs related 
to them. The Association also has a team in the Barcelona International Football 
league, www.bifl.org , called, what else? West Ham! Also, as a group, we have 
appeared in the Official Match Programme. After relegation to the Fizzy Pop 
League, the BHA began an e-mailing service as it is a lot harder to keep up 
to date of all club news when away from the media spotlight. After the interest 
shown from these mails, the BHA decided to organise "Meets" in various 
Barcelona pubs to watch our games live on Sky. We were even blessed, albeit 
for a short time, with our very own bar in Eixample. All this activity coincided with 
our 10th anniversary.

With our long awaited return to the Premier League in the 2005-06 season, 
new members arrived to the BHA, so we needed to be better organized due 
to the difficulties of following a club more than a 1,000km away! We 
produced membership cards, made a DVD and created a free fanzine, 
'Barcelona bubbles' for our members. This website was created, and our 
first "Official" trip to London are do it. In the 06-07 the consolidation was a fact, 
and we are more than 50 members, stamp our new stuff, ect. Even with the 
associations name, we now have members not just from Barcelona, but even
from outside of the Catalan Countries!

What is true is that West Ham has a very strong support from in and around Barcelona. It could be the colours,similar to FC Barcelona,maybe the supporters, fierce and loyal and their links to the teenage subcultures. Surely it has something to do with the music, Bands that are open of their love of West Ham such as the Cockney Rejects, Iron Maiden, CockSparrer, The Business etc. etc. It could even be the things taken for granted, their classic English, landlocked stadium, the fighting spirited team or quite simply... wanting to be part of this little big club!
